ADVANCING PLURALISM
TO ENHANCE THE FUTURE
OF OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY

Surging illiberalism threatens democracy throughout the Global North and South. Yet we can beat back this tide and achieve progress for our international community - if we lay a renewed foundation for mutual respect, diversity and global thriving.
Together, we must preserve the future of pluralism.

We must build an ecosystem that supports fundamental freedoms of speech, discovery and the unfettered pursuit of knowledge.

We must safeguard individuals' inherent rights of justice and equity.

For six decades, the Fondation Maison des sciences de l'homme (FMSH) has nurtured unique cooperation across the humanities and social sciences. The research that we incubate has enabled deeper understandings of the human experience, our connections to one another, and our relationships with the wider world.
Today, this leadership has taken on new importance as we face challenges like rising tides of disinformation, exponential technological acceleration, and disintegrating social and community connections.
Our unique position – based on historical achievement – allows the FMSH to navigate these formidable modern crossroads. By forging new bridges between established and innovative ideas, seasoned and emerging intellectuals, we will shape the global trajectory of humanities and social science research – and the knowledge we gain about ourselves, our communities, and our global society.
